Proverbs 12:4 & 31:10-31
Proverbs 12:4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that causes shame is as rottenness in his bones. Proverbs 31:1,0 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 31:11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 31:12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 31:13 She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands. 31:14 She is like the merchants' ships; she brings her food from afar. 31:15 She rises also while it is yet night, and gives meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 31:16 She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. 31:17 She girds her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms. 31:18 She perceives that her merchandise is good: her candle goes not out by night. 31:19 She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 31:20 She stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reaches forth her hands to the needy. 31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 31:22 She makes herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. 31:24 She makes fine linen, and sells it; and delivers girdles unto the merchant. 31:25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 31:26 She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 31:27 She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness. 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. 31:29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excels them all. 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the LORD, she shall be praised. 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
I know there is a good deal to read, but please read the Scripture verses above objectively and allow them into your heart!
Proverbs of a virtuous women. There is a lot that can be learned here for people of all ages, races, nationalities, religious beliefs, and so on. First, even though these passages were written in the context of a women, this applies to all people. The analogy commonly used is that we, the people, are the church and are recieve to Christ as a bride, to which He is the Groom. Please keep this in mind. These words come from a time when virtuous person meant a female virgin who, once married, does nothing to shame her husband neither in life together nor after he has died should she do anything to shame his family name. The above passages, to me at least, offer a broader view of what could be defined as a virtuous woman. But I feel this "definition" should apply to and be revered by men as well.
To be virtuous means to be pure. All people should be pure in every avenue of life. When we falter, Christ is there to alert us of our error(s), should we not already know what our error was, offer forgiveness from the error, and provide a way and guidance on that path back to Him; virtuousness.
To be a virtuous bride to Christ we must renounce and die to sin and be born again. Reborn in His blood covering.doing all we can to bring honor, glory, and praise to the Father whom Christ sits at the right hand of.
Being without a blemish does not mean that perfection is expected of us. It means that we are to live by the Precepts and example of Christ. Go and sin no more. Should we falter seek God for forgiveness, don't steal away in embarrassment and shame of our wrongs. Learn from it, teach other about it, and continue on our journey with God. Amen!
