Psalm 119:113-120
113 I hate the double-minded,
But I love Your law.
114 You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in Your word.
115 Depart from me, you evildoers,
For I will keep the commandments of my God!
116 Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live;
And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.
117 Hold me up, and I shall be safe,
And I shall observe Your statutes continually.
118 You reject all those who stray from Your statutes,
For their deceit is falsehood.
119 You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross;
Therefore I love Your testimonies.
120 My flesh trembles for fear of You,
And I am afraid of Your judgments.
Get the behind me Satan. This is the warning Christ gave the devil when he tempted Him in the Wilderness. Though we are only human beings, we have the power to rid ourselves of the devil and his minions (evildoers). In the name of the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost, I am a child of God and I fear no evil, I only fear and love God whom I seek after in this life.
In order to expel the evil, we ourselves and our loved ones my be prayed up and strong in faith. Satan pick this moment to test Christ due to perceived weakness from fasting after the Holy Spirit descended upon when Baptized by John the Baptist. What makes us think we aren't attacked in the same manor?
Psalm 23 says, New King James Version (NKJV)
The Lord the Shepherd of His People
A Psalm of David.
23 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell[a] in the house of the Lord
Forever.
What can the devil and his cronies do to us? Look at Job, God allowed him to be tested, and he stood tall and did not curse God for his afflictions. That is who we must model our faith after daily. Luke 9:23-27 says, Take Up the Cross and Follow Him
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily,[a] and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.”
Take up the faith of Job daily and follow thw will and the way of the Lord. Though we be tested, in doing so, we will withstand the temptations of Satan and bring glory to God.
As Christians, we are empowered to withstand the plan of evil against us by the gift of the Holy Spirit. Being Baptized in the Spirit of God means that He is with us always, even until the end of the age, just like the Apostles. With God all around us, our faith strong, and the Holy Spirit fighting with us, we should never fear evil! Jesus was defiant and rebellious to sin and temptation to death. His reward...rising on the third day and ultimately His ascension on the day of Pentecost. For us, this same lifestyle will allow us to unite with the Father on Heaven on the day of Judgment.
Everything the devil does to us is nothing more than smoke and mirrors to get us away from God. Harm, pain and suffering maybe involved, but remember that in Acts 9:16 Christ says of Saul/Paul, For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake. This is true for us as well. But to shake hands with Christ and to commune with God in His Glory, for me it's is worth it. As for mine and me, we WILL serve the Lord!
